The Word for Today

Patience

Due Season Is Still A Season

Today's Reflection

In Galatians 6:9, Paul encourages believers who are learning to live by the Spirit: “Let's not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don't give up.” The surrounding verses describe restoring others gently, carrying burdens, and sowing to the Spirit rather than the flesh. This harvest is not a promise of quick success or increased wealth; Paul connects it with eternal life. Because Christ has given himself for us, doing good is our response to grace, not a payment for acceptance. Due season belongs to God, and patience means continuing to love while trusting his timing.

That can feel difficult in a generation trained to expect immediate results. At work, quiet faithfulness may go unnoticed while someone else's promotion fills your screen. Relationships require conversations that cannot be rushed, money pressures make waiting uncomfortable, and digital noise keeps suggesting that everyone else is ahead. Anxiety can turn a slow season into a verdict on your worth. But Paul does not measure faithful living by visibility or speed. God sees the good that receives no applause. You can acknowledge your weariness without calling your obedience pointless, and you can rest without deciding to abandon the good God has placed before you.

Today, choose one good thing you can keep doing without demanding an immediate return. Complete a task honestly, listen patiently to someone you love, or offer practical help within your means. If comparison is draining you, put your phone aside for a while and bring that frustration to God. Ask him for strength for today's obedience, not a preview of the entire harvest. Make room for rest and receive help from another believer; perseverance is not solitary striving. Your confidence rests in Christ's finished work, not flawless endurance. Let today's faithfulness be small, sincere, and sustained by his grace.

Today's Confession

“I declare that my hope rests in Jesus Christ, not in how quickly I see results. By his Spirit, I will keep doing good without using visible progress as the measure of God's faithfulness. I surrender my demand to control the season and bring my weariness honestly to him. His grace sustains me as I practice patience, receive help, and take the next faithful step.”

Today's Affirmation

I am accepted in Christ, not because my efforts produce quick results. I can practice patience without proving my worth.

I will sow what is good today and leave the timing with God. I can receive rest and support as I persevere.

Today's Prayer

  1. 1Father, strengthen me when doing good feels tiring. Help me walk by your Spirit today.
  2. 2Lord, free me from comparison and hurried expectations. Teach me to trust your timing.
  3. 3Jesus, keep me rooted in your finished work. Let my obedience flow from gratitude rather than fear.
  4. 4Father, show me one practical way to love someone today. Give me patience to serve without demanding recognition.

Pause & Reflect

Where am I tempted to stop doing good because results are slow, and what would one patient, grace-dependent step look like today?
